Free Family Fun

We've had to get a little creative at our house finding fun things to do as a family, that cost us nothing. Here are some of the ideas that my girls really enjoy doing. Please share your ideas as well!

1. Feeding Geese- where we live there is a plentiful amount of geese to feed and the girls get such a kick out of it. Just bring some of your old bread, and it's entertaining to all.

2. Scavanger Hunt- We make up our own scavanger hunt cards, and use this to find a special prize at the end, or just the afternoon snack. It keeps the kids busy and thinking, and I get requests for this all the time. I just hide cards around the house (or outside weather permitting) that say somthing like, "The item you're seeking is not located here, go to the living room and check by the mirror." And then when they get to the mirror they'll be another note stating something like, "You've come this far, just a little ways to go. Go check the spot where we watch a television show." Then after the child has hunted all the clues, the final clue will bring them to the "prize" at the end of the hunt.

3. Picnic Indoors- This is a good one for bad weather days. We'll just set up a picnic blanket on the living room floor and eat our meal there.

4. Summer Movie In The Park- Most towns these days have started showing a movie in the park during the summer months. It's free to do, and the kids love to sit outside and watch the big screen!

5. Photo-Shoot- My girls love to get all dressed up in fancy hair and princess clothes for me to take their photo. You can make a big ordeal out of it with costume changes, and experimenting with poses. They enjoy being a Model.

6. Day at the Park- This is of course weather permitting, but during the summer weather a day at the park is just what the doctor ordered! Pack a picnic, bring some squirt guns, cameras, baskets to collect treasures and any other outdoor game. You can't go wrong here!

7. Winter Fun- Snowmen, sledding and fort building are the best snow day activities!
